Anjuli Maistry is a senior attorney at Equal Education Law Centre, with over 12 years of experience as a multidisciplinary human rights lawyer. Her work spans strategic litigation, advocacy, policy development, and research, with a strong focus on children’s rights, disability, education reform, migration, and gender justice.

She has litigated key cases involving the rights of refugees and asylum seekers, unaccompanied minors, children with disabilities, and undocumented learners — often at the intersection of education, water, menstrual health, and safety.

Anjuli has made significant contributions to law and policy reform, including submissions on the Refugees Amendment Act, the White Papers on Migration and Inclusive Education, and national school guidelines addressing discrimination based on SOGIESC.

She has also worked closely with government and Chapter 9 institutions, including the South African Human Rights Commission, to co-develop a model school code of conduct grounded in human rights, restorative justice, and positive discipline.
